I know a lot of people ask why Skip Bayless can keep a job on television with some of his opinions, but I tend to think that he is one of those guys that’s just masterful at getting people to talk about him. When you’re the kind of guy who can create more news based upon what you say, that gets people to watch and read.
But, when you’re that kind of guy then you also get subjected to those who are ready to push back. Richard Sherman is one of those guys who isn’t putting up with that garbage. If you’re going to have opinions about Sherman, you had better be ready to defend yourself and back up those opinions.
Sherman’s quotes in this video are almost as good as watching his highlight reel from this season.
Number one: “In my 24 years of life, I’m better at life than you.”
A close second were the first words out of his mouth. Sherman obviously came on the show with an agenda, he was going to embarrass Bayless: “Skip, whenever you refer to me, whenever you speak to me, whenever you address me, address me as All-Pro Stanford graduate, because those are some accomplishments you will never — you can aspire to, you will never accomplish. You have never accomplished anything.”
This one comes in third: “I’m intelligent enough and capable enough to understand that you are ignorant, pompous, egotistical, cretin. I’m going to crush you on here because I’m tired of hearing about it.”
My only critique of Sherman is that he sounded like he was in a room where he was trying not to wake up sleeping kids. Where was the guy that is usually so full of energy?
What clear is that Sherman had a great season, and he’s not going to let people like Bayless downplay his season. Whether or not he is better than Darrell Revis is one thing, but Bayless doesn’t even seem to be willing to put him among the top corners in the game and Skip didn’t even appear prepared to defend his position in this argument.
How does it feel when the shoe is on the other foot, Skip?
