The regular season is here!
To kick off the season, I’m testing out a new look for the weekly newsletter (hopefully a step up from the ones I was testing in preseason). I’ve been asked for a couple years now to make it more mobile friendly, so hopefully this will be just what folks are looking for.
The season is starting off right for those of you overseas, because the game is live on both AFN and DTS. Check out AFN Sports 2 or DTS Pacific/Atlantic at 1000 PT, 1700 GMT.
A lot of familiar faces back this season with a couple of big additions on offense. We’ll finally get to see a full game of how the offense looks with Jimmy Graham at tight end, rookie Tyler Lockette getting a lot of snaps at wide receiver and veteran running back Fred Jackson taking over Robert Turbin’s backup position.
It seems like there were more key losses than additions on defense. With Kam Chancellor holding out, we’ll get to see how Dion Bailey fills that role and Cary Williams comes from the Eagles to take over after Byron Maxwell took his job in Philadelphia.
The Seahawks aren’t getting an easy game out of the gate either. The St. Louis Rams and their incredible defensive line will be an immediate test for a Seattle offensive line that is still learning to play together. The Seattle Seahawks finished the preseason (2-2) with an early rousing of the Oakland Raiders (1-3) at Century Link field on September 3rd, the final score SEA 31, OAK 21. None of the OAK starters played at all in the game, as OAK QB Derek Carr, RB Latavius Murray sat out. Noticeably absent was OAK WR Michael Crabtree as well. That’s okay though, as Richard Sherman didn’t start this game either. While no one expected the ‘hawks to notch a loss against the Raiders, all of the 12s wanted to see a good showing at a near sold out crowd in Seattle…[read more]
Week 1 of the season has arrived and the guys take a look at the matchup against the Rams. Considering St. Louis will continue to have a dominant defensive line, it could be a rough start for Drew Nowak and Justin Britt on the interior line going up against Aaron Donald. Adam and Brandan talk about how the Rams situation on the offensive line might be worse than Seattle and how that could combine with a depleted backfield.
