Seahawks tight end Luke Willson stayed and signed autographs for the 446th Airlift Wing until there was nothing left to sign.
One week into the season and the Seahawks are 1-0! I don’t care what point of the season it is, it always feels good to have an undefeated Seahawks team.
This is going to be an especially wild home opener. With an 8-hour kickoff party the day before, a day-long lead up to Sunday Night Football, the 12th Man trying to break a world record for crowd noise, Seattle police coming to the game in 49ers jerseys, and most of all it’s the Seahawks home opener against a San Franciso team that they beat 42-13 at CenturyLink last year.
I’m planning on attending the 5th Annual Sea Hawkers Kickoff Party on Saturday, so I hope you see some of you there. If not, it’s going to be a long day of tailgating. If you’re in the North Parking Lot, look for the Military Sea Hawkers banner near the entrance of the lot–that’s the place for chapter members to meet up.
One thing I’d also recommend if you’re going to the game is to stop by the Washington Lottery area outside the Northwest Gate. For every $10 purchase of “Seahawks” Scratch tickets ($5 each) you’ll receive $10 in concessions. I like to buy as many tickets as I plan to spend at the concessions and then it’s a bit of a bonus if you happen to win anything on the tickets.
Another thing to keep in mind (this list is starting to get really long) is that future Hall of Famer Walter Jones is going to be signing autographs before the game from 3:30-4:30 in that same area.
All of that leading up to what should be an incredible game. People who are saying the Seahawkers performance last week is somehow indicative of a potential struggle this week need to shake themselves.
I don’t know if we can expect another near 30-point blowout, but this Seahawks team hasn’t forgotten how to move the football. The win against Carolina just as easily could have been 27-7. Nevermind the fact that this Seattle team flat out dominates at home.
With the 12th anniversary of the Sept. 11 attacks this week, it was a great honor to see the Seahawks and USAA visit our troops in the area. Members of the team tweeted out how much of a great time they had meeting folks on base. I hope some of you were able to be a part of that. If so, we’d love to see your pics up on the website.
I made the comment on Facebook this week already and wanted to post it again here. Thank you all whether you are serving now or have served in the past. It’s on days like the anniversary of Sept. 11 that I’m reminded that we all belong to a great community of service members who love the Seahawks, as well as the larger community of all who love this country.
Finally, and maybe you can help me with this decision, but I’m debating on going with foam earplugs or double hearing protection this weekend. Either way, I don’t want to have to any worries about hearing loss holding me back from making as much noise as possible this weekend.
GO HAWKS!!!

There’s no stopping the Seahawks from showing up on AFN or DTS this week. Seattle kicks off the season at home against their biggest rival in the NFC West.
The game is scheduled for 1730 PT, 0030 GMT, and 0500 AFG. The game will be available on both AFN Sports and DTS Sports.
